Located on 19th Street in the Houston Heights, Harold’s is a local restaurant bringing southern & creole style cuisine to this hip neighborhood. Harold’s is a rooftop restaurant located atop Alli’s Pizzeria, which along with Harold’s was founded by a lady named Alli Jarrett. Upon moving to Houston from South Carolina, Jarrett sought to bring her love of fresh local sourced food to town. She opened Alli’s then later opened Harold’s.
Harold’s offers local, fresh and natural dishes with a southern twist and great customer service. Chef Antoine Ware came to Houston from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, and has since made this town his own. He joined Harold’s just over 2 years ago, from Hay Merchant and Federal Grille. He combines both his New Orleans culinary experience as well as a little magic from the soul to create southern style dishes with a local kick.
I had the chance to experience Harold’s brunch and service early this week and chat with Chef Antoine and General Manager Elvio Dominguez about Harold’s, food and marketing. I had great service from management all the way down to the staff. I was getting ready for a work event that day, so it was refreshing to experience some calm before the storm(luckily the event turned out well).

Remember that time a year ago, when I tried my first chicken & waffle at Adair Kitchen? Well, now I’m kind of a lil’ expert…Not really. But I did manage to eat Chef Ware’s twist on this famous dish. Double brine-corn meal floured chicken, atop half a house made Belgian waffle, topped with house made bacon, tomato jelly and lettuce. Lucky for this girl, she got a sunny side up egg added on top, which made for an even more exciting brunch dish. The best of all worlds.
With today being #NationalChicken&WafflesDay, Chef Ware decided to give you a chance to try his amazing Chicken & Waffles BLT for $15 through Sunday. Feeling hungry? Well, grab your food baby(your tummy), a friend and hop on over to Harold’s for some Chicken & Waffles BLT for Brunch and dinner.
