Welcome to Brunch & Conversation!

I am a Texas-based food and lifestyle blogger of Rwandese decent; my family and I have lived in Texas for the last 20 years. Writing has always been my first love—I began through poetry, and then wrote for my high school magazine, produced shows and segments for the school’s TV station, and I even interned for a local TV station; I owned a personal blog called “Lavidalida” which I later let go to start a more niche focused blog. I left my desires to work in media to work in the marketing industry full-time, where I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing companies and brands.

So, how did Brunch & Conversation come about? The idea for starting this blog came to me in 2014, 2 years into the real world, while I was looking for ways in which I could be creative in a not-so creative market that I didn’t know very well. After weighing my options, and remembering some of the lessons from social science classes, I decided to use food as a way to learn my city. Brunch & Conversation was started with the simple belief that “the best way to learn a culture is through its food.” I have plans to grow into a larger brand; what you’ll find now in addition to restaurant reviews are, food & drink recipes, food related products & events, and soon skin and hair care. For collaborations or partnerships, please e-mail me directly at: brunchandconversation@gmail.com.

Over the past few years, I have learned a great deal about the city, and have been lucky to see and be part of its growth. I have worked with many local restaurants, PR agencies, and national brands; been featured in HoustonPress, HiveSociety,KHOU. I even got to meet AnthonyBourdain, and attended many SuperBowl51 festivities.

I believe in taking time to disconnect and enjoy life; when I’m not working or blogging, I’m usually exploring the city, travelling or spending time with my loved ones.

Thank you for stopping by!
